Synopsis
This 1st International Congress on Exacerbations of Airway Disease (ICEAD) is intended to bring together leading experts from around the world to review the status of current research on acute exacerbation of asthma and COPD. Acute exacerbation of both diseases are major causes of morbidity, mortality and health care costs, yet their etiology and pathogenesis are poorly understood. They remain a major medical need, relatively poorly met by available therapies. This meeting will provide new insights into the Epidemiology, Etiology, Genetic Susceptibility to Exacerbation, Pathogenesis, Current Treatments, Clinical Trial Design and Outcomes as well as Future Treatments. Support is available on a competitive basis to enable participation of young investigators. The format of the meeting encourages discussion and especially interactions between senior and junior investigators.
